PlayStation Classic Video and Details

Yesterday Sony joined the classic mini console craze by announcing the release of the PlayStation Classic which will come pre-loaded with 20 original PlayStation games. The PlayStation classic is set to release this Holiday season (December 3) and will cost $99.99 USD ($129.99 CAN, $149.99 AUD). This new retro-gaming console looks exactly like a scaled down version of the original gray PlayStation released back in 1994. The major problem with these classic consoles that have become so popular lately, is actually trying to find one in stores. However, the PlayStation classic is currently up for pre-order right now and we have the info on how you can reserve yours.

The design of PlayStation Classic perfectly mirrors the original console, with the same logo, button layout and packaging – but 45% smaller than 1994’s PlayStation. This miniature console comes with an HDMI cable* to connect to your TV complete with two wired controllers, plus a virtual memory card to save your adventures as you switch between titles. The original PlayStation controller changed the way we play, with four shoulder buttons and an ergonomic design for perfect grip – and PlayStation Classic comes complete with two of these iconic controllers in the box. – PlayStation.com

So far Sony has only released 5 names of the 20 titles that will be featured on the console. They are; Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, Wild Arms, Jumping Flash, and Ridge Racer Type 4. Honestly I am not super impressed with these titles. Only Final Fantasy and Tekken really seem like classics to me but I’m sure there will be some other great classics released on this console. Sony plans to announce the full line up of games before the official launch of the console. If you are interested in pre-ordering the PlayStation Classic you are currently able to at GameStop, Walmart, Best Buy, or directly from the Sony website. Just click on any of the links to go to the pre-order pages.
