Ewoks Coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2

EA just announced a new game mode coming to Star Wars: Battlefront 2 that will let players relive the battle on the forest moon of Endor. Just like in Return of the Jedi, players will get to choose from Ewoks and Imperial stormtroopers for this specific match up. The new mode is called Ewok Hunt and will be available to play in Battlefront 2 on April 18. It has been a rough beginning for the latest game in the Star Wars Battlefront series but this might just be the thing to bring fans back to the game. The release of Star Wars Battlefront 2 was met with a lot of criticism from players when EA included a terrible loot crate system along with some very “in your face” micro transactions. However, the loot box system has since been removed from the game and micro transactions toned down, leading players to slowly make their way back to Battlefront 2.

The ambush begins as Ewoks attack unsuspecting stormtroopers, using spears, Wisties, and other skills to take down their opponents. Each stormtrooper defeated spawns as another Ewok, multiplying until the Empire’s forces have been completely eliminated, and the Ewok celebration can begin. However, the stormtroopers’ superior training and firepower are more than a match for the Ewoks. Armed with a cadre of weapons as well as flashlights to pierce the darkness, players must hold back the Ewok’s ambush if they have a hope of surviving until an extraction team can arrive. – EA quote taken from Polygon

With this new game mode there will also be some new Endor themed cosmetic items that players can get for some existing characters. I’m thinking they will probably be the forest camo for Leia and Luke but don’t quote me on that. As with all of Star Wars Battlefront 2’s DLC this mode will be free to all players though the cosmetic items will cost in game currency. Most likely EA is hoping that this new DLC will be enough to entice some disgruntled players back to the game. Only time will tell if this new game mode and DLC will be enough to breathe some life in to a somewhat dying franchise. As always we want to hear from you Nerd Nation.
