Big Hero 6 Animated Series Release Date

The Disney hit Big Hero 6 was released all the way back in 2014 and the announcement for a new animated series based on the movie happened back in 2016. If you missed that then just click here to see that story. Fast forward to 2018 and we are finally getting the news on when this series will actually be released. In all honesty I thought that this project had either been scrapped or that it had already been released and wasn’t much of a hit. Anyways, it looks like the Big Hero 6 animated series will finally premiere June 9th of this year at 9 a.m. EST. You can watch it on the Disney channel, DisneyNow, and Disney Channel on demand.

“As the new kid at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, Hiro faces daunting academic challenges at the prestigious “nerd school” and the social trials of being the “little man on campus.” Luckily, Hiro has his brains, his ingenuity and his best friend bot to help him find his way. But it’s off campus where things get dangerous. Along with neat freak Wasabi, bubbly mad scientist Honey Lemon, fanboy Fred and no nonsense Go Go, the friends form an unlikely, but awesome super hero team – Big Hero 6. Together they face madness and mayhem as a colorful array of science-enhanced villains threaten San Fransokyo.”

Apparently the Big Hero 6 animated series was originally supposed to be released last fall but for unknown reasons it was set back almost a year. Unfortunately I feel like they took so long to get this series out that a lot of the impact that it would have had back in 2015 or 2016 will be lost. Still I think this series has the potential to be entertaining and hopefully shine the spotlight once again on a very under-rated Disney property.
