KB Toy Stores Returning

The sad news of Toys “R” Us closing all of it’s stores in North America was just announced last week. Not only do I have some great memories of going to Toys “R” Us as a kid but I also have some amazing memories of going there as an adult with my son. It’s always been a source of fun and excitement in my life and to see it go really does make me sad. However, there is some good news on the horizon for both toy store fans and the 33,000 employees of Toys R Us about to be laid off. Another former toy store giant is planning to make it’s return to North America. KB Toys has been gone for almost 10 year with the last of their stores closing back in 2009. However, plans are currently in the works to open new stores and help out former employees of the closing Toys R Us stores.

Many of you asked what our plans will be and all we can say is we spent the last six months working on a sustainable model to bring back KB Toys the right way so it can compete with not only the big box stores but on-line as well. Our umbrella, Strategic Marks, LLC has been very successful bringing back many of the most popular products and companies over the last ten years because we follow a very strict formula; With #kbtoys, we had to also look at why they initially failed and to make sure those mistakes won’t be made again.

The above quote was taken from a recent statement by Ellia Kassoff founder of Strategic Marks, LLC. In the statement it was also mentioned that they “hope to find places for those 33,000 jobs which will be lost as Toys R Us closes.” The best news however, is that KB Toys is planning to have some stores open by the Christmas season of this year. Personally I think this is great news and though they will never replace Toys R Us for me, I am glad to see that another iconic toy store from my childhood is making a comeback. I just hope that they really are putting themselves in a position to be successful for the long term. To read the full statement from KB Toys then check out the Linked In article by clicking here.
