TBT: Do You Remember “Event Horizon”

Right now the biggest movie in the country is a horror movie that just so happens to be a remake of a classic 80s movie. Of course I am talking about the movie IT and though it scared me as a kid, there is a different movie that I want to talk about today that scared and intrigued me even more than that one. I’m talking about the 90s sci-fi horror film called Event Horizon. For those of you that have never scene the movie I highly recommend that you check it out especially if you like science fiction, intriguing story lines, mystery, and lots of gore. In my humble opinion this is definitely a must watch for any horror fan or science fiction fan for that matter. Just be warned Event Horizon is definitely not for the weak at heart.

The movie Event Horizon was about a small rescue team that is investigating a spaceship with a special warp drive that accidentally opened up a dimension to hell. Again if you haven’t seen it I definitely recommend that you do. This is without a doubt one of the scariest and gory sci-fi movies that I have ever scene. I always wondered where the idea for this movie came from and how it went so unnoticed by mainstream audiences. Well thankfully the GoodBadFlicks YouTube channel has put together a very detailed video about the creation and production of Event Horizon. At the time movies had a lot more mystery to them back in the 90s before stars could tweet pics of themselves on set, or footage was able to leaked on the internet.

I was somewhere around the age of 14 or 15 when I saw Event Horizon for the first time, and it scared the sh*t out of me. What really set this movie apart from other horror films was that there wasn’t a specific creature or “bad guy” that was responsible for all the killing going on. Instead it was more of a madness and demonic forces that was causing the crew members to kill each other. To this day some of the most disturbing images I have seen in a movie came from this one. The video that they find that shows what happened to the original crew will always be one of the most disturbing and memorable scenes of the entire movie.

Again this is a great movie and the video below does an amazing job of giving us the behind the scenes story of what is, in my opinion, one of the greatest sci-fi horror movies of all time. The whole thing was really well done even if it was drastically cut back by the studio. I hope that one day we could get a true director’s cut of the movie to view it the way it was truly meant to be viewed. So check out the video below Exploring Event Horizon and as always, let us know what you think Nerd Nation.
