Overwatch Developer Update: Hero Balancing

Blizzard released a developer update yesterday and announced that they will be making some major changes to one of the game’s most popular characters. When putting a team together in Overwatch, one of the most crucial components is of course the healer. No healer is more popular among the Overwatch community than Mercy. If you are an avid Mercy player than you probably love her just the way she is, but if you’ve ever been a part of a team wipe just to have her resurrect the entire enemy team, then you might feel a little differently about her… at the time at least. Well it seems that Blizzard has taken it upon themselves to make some pretty major changes to Mercy and you may love or hate their decision.

According to Game director Jeff Kaplan Mercy’s Ultimate will no longer be able to resurrect an entire team or even multiple people. She will now have the ability to resurrect a single player at a time as a cool down ability. Her Ultimate is now something called valkyrie mode where she can fly at will, heal/boost multiple team mates at once and a few other things. Blizzard says this is to help Mercy players be more engaged in battles rather than waiting around a corner for their team to die and then come in a resurrect them all. Another character that they are talking about changing (which affects me personally) is D.Va. She is the character I play with the most. They want to dial back her defense matrix and make it weaker.

Personally I don’t think it’s over powered at all especially when there are characters than can shoot right through it but what do I know? Again depending on how you look at it, these things could be either good or bad for you as a player. So check out the Overwatch developer update and as always let us know what you think about it Nerd Nation. Are you glad that Blizzard is making changes to these characters or do you think they should have been left alone. Also what other changes do you think they should make within the game? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this by leaving them in a comment below, on the Facebook page, or hit us up on the Twitter page @Nerdgasmneeds.
