Possible Directors found for Mega Man Movie

This is honestly the first that I have even heard about a possible Mega Man movie in the works. Apparently back in 2015 it was announced that 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment would be taking over development on a movie based on the popular video game franchise. Personally I think Mega Man would be better suited for an animated movie series or Netflix show but you know Hollywood…”Where ever there is money to be made” is their motto. Well here we are 2 years later and it looks like we are very close to having both a writer and director for this movie project. However, I am a bit surprised to hear who the front runners are.

According the The Hollywood Reporter, Catfish documentary directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are in the final stages of negotiations to write and direct the Mega Man movie. A TV series was created for MTV based on the original documentary also titled Catfish, which has gone on to become very popular. I don’t know if these guys know much about the game franchise or if they are even fans. I would like to think that they are, but that has never really been a prerequisite when it came to writing or directing video game based movies. So far this is the only news that I have seen about the development of a Mega Man movie. As of now there is no actors or actresses attached to this film.

Only time will tell if this is going to be a ground breaking film for the video game movie genre, or just another bad idea like so many that came before it. As always we want to hear from you Nerd Nation. Are you excited for a possible Mega Man movie and do you think that Catfish directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are the right choice to write and direct a movie about such a beloved and iconic character? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this by leaving them in a comment below, on the Facebook page, or hit us up on the Twitter page @Nerdgasmneeds.
