Cowboy Bebop Live-Action Series

Cowboy Bebop is arguably one of the best anime series to ever be made. The animation was stylized and innovative, the music was unique and emotional, and most of all it got you invested in the characters from the moment we were first introduced to them. In fact, just the other week I actually started the whole series over again from the beginning and re-watched each episode on Hulu. I had forgotten just how good this anime really was and being older I feel that I could truly appreciate it even more. So, just when I started to think that they should really make another series set in the Cowboy Bebop universe we get the news that a live-action Cowboy Bebop series is in the works.

Now correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they already do this? I believe the series was called Firefly and the ship was named Serenity and not Bebop. Obviously I’m joking but if you go back and watch both series you can see quite a few similarities. The good news about this new Cowboy Bebop series is that it is being produced by Sunset Inc., which just so happens to be the same studio that produced the original 1998 anime series. Thor: Ragnarok writer Chris Yost has also been hired to spearhead this project. Yost has also written for projects like The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and the Hulk Vs movies which were really good in my opinion.

So far there is no information on where this series might find a home or when it is expected to premiere. Obviously this project is still in the very early stages of development and only time will tell if this is going to be a hit or another insult to an already popular anime series. As always, we want to hear from you Nerd Nation.
