Terminator Animated Trailer (Video)

As much as I wish this was trailer for a new animated series or even a video game, this particular piece of animation is actually a tool to help pitch a script for a full length Terminator movie. the trailer is titled Extermination and takes an in depth look at what life is like for mankind after Skynet and the machines have been defeated. Though some small groups of machines still exist the real threat in this post apocalyptic world is once again humans.

This HD animation was created by the team of Bruce Stirling and John Knox as a way to pitch their idea for a new Terminator film to movie studios. However, after watching this trailer several times I personally feel that this particular story line might be better suited for an original TV series. Sure we had The Sarah Connor Chronicles which wasn’t a bad series but focused too much on existing characters and story lines. Extermination has the opportunity to explore the world after the movies with all new characters and new, diverse threats to humanity.

extermination-image-03A new series like Extermination wouldn’t have to be limited to what has already been done, but could be free to explore the Terminator universe in ways that we have never seen. Lord knows that the entire Terminator franchise is in desperate need of something fresh and original rather than the same old thing. I could definitely see this being a Netflix original series. Honestly I think this series could follow a similar path as The Walking Dead with deadly rival factions, set in the distant future, and with murderous machines rather than Zombies.

Anyway check out the Terminator based pitch trailer, Extermination and as always let us know what you think Nerd Nation. Did you enjoy this short animated film and do you think this idea would be better suited for a feature length film or a TV series?
