Original Power Rangers Not In New Movie
So the latest buzz about the new Power Rangers movie is that the original actors that played the Power Rangers in the 1993 American television show will not be making an appearance. Honestly I think it would have been cool to see some of them through out the movie in unique and creative cameos but this doesn’t really do much to detour me from seeing the movie. Still I think not even asking them to be a part of it is a little insulting to the original actors and to the fans.
For those of you that might not remember the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers cast consisted of Austin St. John as Jason the Red Ranger, David Yost as Billy the Blue Ranger, Amy Jo Johnson as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Thuy Trang (RIP) as Trini the Yellow Ranger, and Walter Jones as Zack the Black Ranger. Of course we can’t forget Jason David Frank as Tommy the evil then later good Green Ranger. In a statement Walter Jones indicated that not only will they not appear in the movie, but they were never even asked.
During a recent interview with Audibly Exquisite the former Black Ranger had this response when asked about appearing in the up coming Power Ranger movie, “It’s not likely. Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is…confusing to me, but I’m excited for the film nevertheless.” Again I think it’s a bit insulting when film makers want to distance themselves so much from what made the source material so popular in the first place, but no one ever asks me.
