No Skyrim MODS for PS4
What the hell are you doing Sony? For the last 3 years you have been on top of the gaming world with the success of the PlayStation 4 and just plain being about the gamers. Now it seems like the relationship you’ve created with your customers over the past few years is being flushed down the toilet in just a few short days. The PS4 slim and Pro look like nothing more than a blatant cash grab with most people being drastically underwhelmed, and now we find out that you are not allowing those user mods that we were all excited about for the remastered Skyrim game.
According to a recent statement from Bathesda Sony will not allow user mods on the PlayStation 4 for games like Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4. On the flip side, Microsoft and Xbox already allow user mods for Fallout 4 and will allow them for the up coming Skyrim release as well. I am actually purchasing an Xbox One S this weekend so it looks like that will be my system of choice when it comes to buying the Skyrim Special Edition. Check out Bathesda’s full statement below taken from Kotaku;
After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.
Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.
We will provide an update if and when this situation changes.
Seriously? What the hell Sony? As always I want to hear from you Nerd Nation. Do you feel like Sony is burning bridges with their fans and does the choice to not include user mods have any impact on your continuing support of the PlayStation 4 (if you even support it at all)?
