NEW Details On CBS Star Trek Series

Brace yourselves Star Trek fans because we are about to explore the final frontier again with a brand new Star Trek TV series. The show will be titled Star Trek: Discovery and will air on the CBS network. This is really exciting news especially since we haven’t had a new Star Trek TV series since 2005 with Star Trek: Enterprise. Honestly I never really got into that particular series but I am a fan of most of the other series in the Star Trek univers. As most of you know I grew up watching The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager with my father.

The series will consist of 13 episodes initially and focus on a female lead who is not actually a star ship captain. Instead she is “Lieutenant Commander with caveats” according to executive producer Bryan Fuller (Writer Deep Space 9). Star Trek: Discovery will primer with a two hour episode on CBS then only air the following episodes on their streaming service CBS All Access. I think this is a bit unfortunate because they are obviously limiting the exposure of this series. Personally I don’t subscribe to the service but depending on how good the pilot is, I might have to change that.

Abrams movies.” Again as a fan of most of the Star Trek TV series this is great news. Discovery will also be the first Star Trek series to feature an openly Gay character which will add to the diversity of the reoccurring cast. All in all this sounds very exciting and I can’t wait for the show to premier. Star Trek: Discovery is set to air on the CBS network January 2017.
