Babylon 5 Actor Passes Away

This is some really sad news and hits me on a bit of a personal level. Actor Jerry Doyle who played Michael Garibaldi on the popular science fiction show Babylon 5 has passed away. Doyle played the character throughout the series and was in two Babylon 5 movies. I used to love watching this show with my father and it was one of our favorites, right up there with Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. Personally Michael Garibaldi was one of my favorite characters on the show.

Disney’s The Rocketeer Reboot

Disney has officially confirmed that they will be bringing back the Rocketeer. The original Rocketeer movie was released by Disney all the way back in 1991 and I remember seeing it as a kid. Honestly I am not really surprised that Disney is bringing it back and rebooting the somewhat forgotten action/adventure movie. It was honestly only a matter of time especially with the recent success of reboots like The Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However, what is surprising is that the lead character will not be Cliff Secord who was the main protagonist from the original comic and movie, instead the new Rocketeer will be an un-named African-American female pilot.

Mega Drive Mini NOT An Official Sega Console

So recently we saw Nintendo officially announce the release of the NES mini. Shortly after there were tons of reports going around that Sega was getting back into the console war with Nintendo by releasing a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive mini. I hadn’t actually gotten a chance to read up about it until today when I saw another interesting article put out by Kotaku. Turns out the Sega Mega Drive is nothing more than a cheaply made emulator box that has actually been around for years.

Daniel Stern Gets Visit From Old Friend (Video)

For many people, especially those of us who grew up in the 90s, the original Home Alone movie is one of if not the best Christmas movie ever made. It is definitely a great piece of my childhood that I happily revisit every year around December. One of the best characters in the movie has to be Marv (Daniel Stern) of the wet bandits. In this short YouTube video he is reunited with an old co-star and I’m not talking about Joe Pescie or Macaulay Culkin.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 1&2 Out NOW (Video)

It has been 10 years since the release of the first Marvel: Ultimate Alliance game and I can still remember the initial buzz after seeing the trailer at Comic-Con 2006. Here we are 10 years later and both the first and second game in the series are getting a re-release for current generation consoles and PC. Personally these are some of my favorite Marvel games of all time and as excited as I am to be able to play a more updated version of them, I think I would have preferred a new installment in the series instead.

Transformers Combiner Wars Trailer (Video)

So my initial impression of Transformers: Combiner Wars after watching the prelude episodes wasn’t very good. Unfortunately with the prelude episodes we got a mix between 3D animation and motion comic animation. I was afraid the entire series was going to be like that, but fortunately that is not the case. I have posted the official trailer below and the animation actually looks really good. I am definitely excited to see the rest of this series and think that it should be pretty enjoyable for most Transformer fans.

Captain Power Reboot Trailer (Video)

For those of you that didn’t grow up in the 80s there was an awesome but under-rated TV series about futuristic, cybernetic warfare called Captain Power and The Soldiers of The Future. This was not only one of the best shows of it’s era but also spawned some amazing toys that were ahead of their time. The whole thing was really ahead of it’s time and the series only ran for one 14 episode season. Now here we are almost 30 years later and Captain Power is making a come back.
