Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in “The Division” Movie

Though I’ve had my criticisms of Ubisoft’s The Division game, I really think the story its self is actually really compelling. I really enjoyed some of the live action short films that were released to coincide with the game and honestly thought that they would make a good movie or series. I can definitely see how The Division could make an intense and entertaining feature length movie. Well apparently Ubisoft is not only ready to make a full length feature film based on The Division, but they may already have one of the biggest names in Hollywood set to star in it.

According to Variety Jake Gyllenhaal is said to be attached to star AND produce The Division movie. Right now things are in the very early stages with Ubisoft looking for a writer for the script. They have a solid story on their hands already so I would expect the writing process to move fairly quickly. As soon as the script is written they can shop studios to make their film come to life. Ubisoft has already made the transition from games to movies with the Assassin’s Creed movie on the way.

14artsbeat-jake-blog480Like I said before I really think that the Division has a great story that I think it would be perfect for the big screen. However, I’ve never been a big Jake Gyllenhaal fan especially after movies like Jarhead and Prince of Persia. Honestly I haven’t seen much of his recent work so I guess I will have to save my judgement for when we actually get our first look at the movie. We as gamers can only hope that The Division movie isn’t plagued with the many glitches that the game has had…I kid

As always I want to hear from you Nerd Nation. Do you think that Ubisoft made the right choice using Jake Gyllenhaal as the first official face for The Division, and are you excited to see it being turned into a movie?
