Barbie Became A Game Developer

At this point my daughter is sort of out of the whole Barbie stage but I’m still tempted to get this for her. To be honest she never really was that big in to Barbies since she was more of a “tom boy”. However she might have been a bit more interested in them if this Game Developer Barbie had come out a little sooner. Still this is pretty cool and I’m very impressed that Mattel wants to encourage girls to not only play more games but possibly pursue a career in creating them.

Game Developer Barbie actually looks awesome and comes with some pretty sweet accessories. Some of her accessories include a game chat headset, a tablet, and a lap top computer.  It’s worth noting that none of her accessories are pink and she’s actually dressed like a real human being. Again I think it’s cool that not only is game development being portrayed as a legitimate profession, but also that it’s not just for men, or in this case boys. Good job Mattel! Game Developer Barbie is available now at most major toy retailers.

The only thing I think she could have used was possibly a shirt that proclaimed her love for gaming. As always I want to hear from you Nerd Nation. What do you think of Mattel making Barbie into a game developer and what other technological professions would you like to see Barbie excel at?
