First Official Ghostbusters Trailer (Video)

After a year of speculation, screen shots, and other random pieces of media we finally get to see the first official trailer for the new Ghostbusters movie. Thirty years after the original movie New York city is in need of saving from the paranormal once again. This time it’s up to a new set of recruits to send the dead back to where they came from, or at least to a giant containment unit housed in the basement of their building.

Description from Sony Pictures Entertainment YouTube page; Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they’re here to save the world!

ghostbusters-movie-2016-02My first impression of this movie is just meh. I guess I’m tired of seeing classic movies “re-imagined” and “rebooted” for the sake of trying to cash in on their past popularity. I know this movie isn’t marketed towards me or my generation. Those of us who love the original don’t want to see this remade with a completely different cast. Also, I’m tired of “re-imagining” meaning that the characters are now a different gender or different ethnicity. To me it just seems lazy and you’re not fooling anyone Hollywood. It’s still the same exact same movie with nothing original about it so you might as well just re-release the original in HD or something.

All that being said the new Ghostbusters movie looks alright but nothing super exciting in my opinion. Anyway, check out the first official Ghostbusters trailer and let me know what you think Nerd Nation. Is the new Ghostbusters movie a GO or a NO for you.
