Mattel Takes Over Halo Toys
McFarlane Toys has had the rights to design and distribution of the Halo action figures for quite a while now. They have done a great job with the look and design of them as they have with all of their respective properties. However, when it came to the Halo brand it just didn’t seem like it was reaching it’s full potential in the toy market. Well it has been announced that 343 Industries and Mattel have reached a deal to make and distribute a new line of Halo toys. Personally I think this is great news.
Mattel has actually been working with another line of Halo toys for quite a while under their subsidiary Mega Brands doing the Halo Mega Bloks line which my kids and I love. Halo Mega Bloks has been very successful and popular all over the world. Now Mattel has exclusive rights to the Halo brand and all of it’s toy lines. This past weekend Mattel featured it’s brand new set of Halo six inch and twelve inch figures at the 2016 Toy Fair in New York.
At first glance I have to say that I am very impressed. These figures look very accurate to the their video game counter parts and have a good amount of detail, much like the McFarlane versions did. The six inch figures seem to have more details in the armor and more articulation. However, the twelve inch figures are a bit less expensive so obviously there is a little bit of a trade off for the cheaper cost. Also, we will be seeing more Halo weapons from the BoomCo line including the assault rifle which looks awesome. The new Mattel Halo toy lines will be out later this year.
Hopefully we will be seeing a lot more Halo figures and play sets in the near future and it looks like the brand is in good hands with Mattel. As always I want to hear from you Nerd Nation. Are you excited to see the Halo toys being handled by Mattel or do you think they it should have stayed where they were?
