Resident Evil First Person Shooter (Video)

I saw this a few weeks ago, but haven’t been able to post about it until now. If you didn’t already know, Capcom is coming out with a first person, PVP, shooter called Umbrella Corps. The game Umbrella Corps will be an online multiplayer shooter set in the world of Resident Evil. Of course this shooter will be gimmicky as all hell because it involves zombies, but I actually think the way Capcom is using them is honestly pretty interesting and could make for an intense game play experience.

Right off the bat I am a little skeptical though because Capcom isn’t known for making FPS multiplayer shooters. With a market that is already pretty saturated with FPS shooters, Capcom is really going to have to do something unique and innovative to stand out from the crowd. Umbrella Corps breaks you into teams fighting close quarter, fast paced matches against other players. The zombies are a part of the maps that players will battle on and in the beginning they are pretty harmless.

Umbrella_Corps_cover_artEach player is equipped with a “zombie jammer” strapped to their backs, which enables them to move around the map without being bothered by the zombies. As long as your zombie jammer is in tact they are nothing more than slow moving obstacles that you can actually use as shields if you like. However, if your zombie jammer gets damaged during the course of the game, that is when things start to get interesting. You will no no longer be “invisible” to the zombies and they will begin to attack you mercilessly.

Not much else is known about the game except that it is tentatively set to release sometime in early 2016. I am holding my judgement until I actually get to see more of the game, but I seriously hope this isn’t Operation Racoon City all over again. Talk about a huge let down. I have posted the trailer below so be sure to check that out and let me know what you think Nerd Nation. Does a Resident Evil FPS sound exciting to you or do you think you will pass on it?
