Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II Has A New Shredder

One of the things I hated most about the 2014 TMNT reboot was the casting and treatment of the character Shredder. That’s not to say that I hated the entire movie, but it was definitely unforgivable to me. Shredder is as iconic as the turtles themselves and the main bad guy that really drives the entire narrative of the story. I mean honestly, what are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles without the Shredder?

It was obvious that in the last movie they had set up Eric Sacks (William Fichtner) to be the Shredder. However, a shit ton of fan out cry changed all that and they were forced to re-shoot a lot of his scenes and bring in another actor (Tohoru Masamune) to try and do a little damage control. Unfortunately it just didn’t make much sense and they shouldn’t have tried to change his character’s origin in the first place.

brian_tee_tmnt_movie_shredderWell good news everyone! Brian Tee has now been cast in the role of Shredder for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II. You may recognize him from his roles in The Wolverine and The Fast and The Furious Tokyo Drift. It’s my guess that he will probably be the real Oroku Saki and have a much bigger role to play than the faceless string puller that poor Tohoru Masamune ended up being. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is scheduled for release on June 3, 2016.

As always let me know your thoughts on this Nerd Nation. Is Brian Tee a welcome change in this second TMNT movie and were you disappointed at all about their portrayal of the Shredder in the first movie? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below, on the Facebook page, or hit me up on the Twitter.
