New Dragon Ball Z Animated Series

It’s been 18 years since the last Dragon Ball series ended that most of us (including the creator) would like to forget. That’s right, Dragon Ball GT, aired from 1996 to 1997 and that was the last we saw of an actual series although the franchise seems busier than ever. With the release of the second DBZ movie in a year it seems that there is no better time to revive the series than now. Personally I am super excited about it. In fact my excitement level is over…..

Haha I won’t do it to you guys. Let’s just say I am really excited. The new series will be titled Dragon Ball Chou or Dragon Ball Super. Original Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama will be writing the story and have a chance to retell the Z fighter’s future the way he originally wanted. He has stated his opinion many times that he was not happy with Dragon Ball GT nor did he want to do it in the first place.

Gohan-dragon-ball-z-34844057-500-374The series will take place after Goku defeats Majin Buu which is kind of strange because all of these recent movies take place around the same time period. No word as of yet if these movies will tie in to the series or if they are just stand alone movies like some of the previous ones have been. Dragon Ball Super is set to air as early as July in Japan. I’m sure we can expect a series trailer sometime within the next few weeks to possibly a month.

As always I want to know what you think about this Nerd Nation. Are you excited to see the Dragon Ball series revived along with new movies, or do you think that it should have stayed a classic and left well enough alone? leave me your thoughts in a comment below, on the Facebook page, or you can always hit me up on Twitter.
