Fear The Walking Dead: What We Know

So during the season finale of The Walking Dead we got our first glimpse at the spinoff show Fear the Walking Dead. Since AMC sees fit to make us wait 6 months between seasons I’m glad that they have this new series to keep us occupied. With the first few seconds of the trailer we can tell that this is going to be completely different from the current Walking Dead series running on AMC and I for one am super excited about it. I think most Walking Dead fans have a ton of questions about what is going on in the rest of the world and this will finally give us a look at it.

So what we know is that this show does not have any comic book connections at all. This is a stand alone show that was co-created by Robert Kirkman and David Erickson. It will start off earlier in the events of the outbreak but will eventually run concurrently with the current series according to Robert Kirkman. So no doubt there will probably be references to what’s going on in the other show scattered through out the new series and we might even run into some people that we lost track of in the original series. That is all just speculation of course.

feartwd01Also we get to kind of see some of the origins of the zombie out break. Like I said before Fear The Walking Dead will start out before the original series and some what fill in the gap of time that Rick was out in the hospital. However, this series will start off clear across the country in Los Angeles so most likely we won’t be seeing anything that happened in Atlanta. I am excited for this because the walkers will look fresh and completely different from what we’ve been use to these past few seasons and, we will see how the virus affected densely populated, urban areas rather than rural country side communities. We did get to see a bit of Atlanta but not when the outbreak first happened.

Finally we know that the main cast of survivors will be played by Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey. AMC has ordered 2 seasons right off the bat but as we know, no one is really safe in a Walking Dead show. I have a feeling that some of the actors who start the series won’t make it past season one. So far both seasons will consist of 6 hour long episodes with season one showing this summer and season 2 showing in 2016. Honestly I can’t wait for the show to premiere this summer.

As always I want to hear from the Nerd Nation. Are you guys excited for another Walking Dead series and what can the new show learn from the original? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below.
