Awesome Manga Cafe (Video)

So I stumbled across a YouTube channel that I really like and takes viewers to different places through out Japan. The WAORYU ONLYinJAPAN channel has done some really great episodes on many different things that you will only find in Japan. One of them was about a cafe that can double as a hotel, and has just about everything a manga lover could want. I have to admit that the amount of manga available in a place like this is almost overwhelming.

manboo02MANBOO is a Japanese Manga cafe chain that feels more like a hotel for Nerds rather than a cafe. The host of the video takes you through the entire check in process and shows you what you get for your money. You can stay for a few hours or even the whole day. For a mere ¥1290 (or roughly $11.00 US) you can spend the entire night closed off from the rest of the world, and enjoying your favorite manga titles. For your money you can rent a small room complete with a computer, high speed internet access, a TV, and a comfortable chair or mat. Oh and let’s not forget the over 40,000 different manga titles you can read from their library.

manboo01This looks like an awesome place to go and get away for a few hours, but I have to assume that high speed internet access isn’t as readily available like it is here in the states. Although maybe it is and it’s just more fun to go use this place and get out of the house for a while. I wonder how something like this would do here in the US and if there would be enough of a market for it to be popular. Where I live in Southern California, we have a very large population of people that love anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture. I know I would definitely be a frequent visitor of a cafe like this.

Anyways check out the video and WAORYU ONLYinJAPAN Youtube channel for more awesome videos about Japan. As always I really want to hear your thoughts on this Nerd Nation. If MANBOO manga cafe was brought to your city do you think you would go often? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below, on Facebook, or on Twitter.
