Remember Wednesday: X-Men Game

There has been many different video games based on the Marvel superhero team known as the X-Men, some were good and some not so much. For me only one stands out above the rest, and deserves to be remembered on this Wednesday. Don’t get me wrong, there have been plenty of great X-Men games over the years, but this was the first one to really take their awesomeness to an uncanny level (see what I did there).

The game takes place in the Danger Room inside the X-Mansion. A virus transmitted from a satellite has infected the Danger Room, disabling control and safety limits. The X-Men must endure the unpredictable behavior of the Danger Room until the virus can be located and eliminated. Once the virus is eliminated, the X-Men discover that Magneto is behind the computer virus and the final stage involves a battle with him. The four main playable characters are Gambit, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and Cyclops. That was awesome because those are four of my favorite X-Men characters. Storm, Rogue, Iceman, and Archangel were all supporting characters that you could call upon for some extra firepower.

I loved the variety of levels that they had, though the game play itself could get pretty repetitive. It was cool facing off against the likes of Sabretooth, The Juggernaut, and even Apocalypse. I remember spending hours on end trying to beat Apocalypse. The game was a ton of fun and one of the last video games I can remember playing with my Dad. This game brings back a lot of great memories for me and I hope it does for you too.

As always I want to hear your thoughts Nerd Nation. Do you remember playing this game as a kid? Was this one of your favorite old school games, and if not which ones were? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below, on Facebook, or on Twitter.

Virtua Fighter Z

This has got to be one of the most epic crossovers ever! I’m honestly not sure where this came from, except that someone posted it on Twitter. I don’t know if these figures are fan made or if it’s just something really cool out of Japan (Japan gets all the cool stuff). I hope this is a line of mini figures that is coming out soon because they would look completely awesome on my desk. Either way this is pretty cool and I have great memories from both Virtua Fighter and Dragon Ball Z.

Gamer Heaven (Video)

Video Games New York might just be the worlds best video game store. It is definitely gamer heaven come to earth. They have so many different types of games and gaming hardware that you could probably spend a few days in there and not actually see everything they have for sale. For those of us that live on the west coast the likelihood of us getting there anytime soon isn’t very good. Thankfully for us, BuzzFeedVideo was kind enough to go there and show us their top 50 favorite things they found at Video Games New York.

Video Games New York is located in Manhattan and has just about everything a gamer could ever hope for. I was surprised to see everything from rare gaming consoles to games only released in Japan. Those aren’t as big a deal these days since the internet pretty much allows you access to things you would never see in the states. However, a Playstation 3 that has been signed by Hideo Kojima is pretty amazing. I also really like their joystick collection and that they have parts to build your own arcade style joystick. There is a countless number of cool stuff in their shop and if I ever make it to New York you can bet I’m making a trip to Video Games New York!

Anyways, check out the video and let me know what you think Nerd Nation. Have you ever seen such a video game store and do you know of one that is possibly even better? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below, on the Facebook page or hit me up on Twitter…Enjoy!

Christmas Is Coming

This is actually a really cool piece of Christmas art. Love Game of Thrones and I love Christmas so I can definitely put this in the win column. I hope you all have been good this year other wise you might wind up with the same fate as Ned Stark…On second though, lets hope coal is the worst you get haha 🙂
