Geek Ink: Sonic

Time for another Nerdgasmic example of Geek Ink. Haha this Sonic the Hedgehog tattoo is 16 bits of awesomeness. This is a great way to keep the memory of what once was alive. I’ll never forget getting my Sega Genesis for Christmas. It came with the original Sonic the Hedgehog game and I played that thing for days on end. For more great tattoo art check out the Geek Ink photo album on the Facebook page.

Remember Wednesday: SilverHawks

Remember back in 1986 when cartoons had decent story lines and awesome animation? Of course you do so lets go way back when and check out an awesome show from our childhood called Silver Hawks. It seemed like most of my friends were either a SilverHawks fan or a ThunderCats fan. I just happened to be a fan of both. They were essentially the same show only one was about humanoid cats on Third Earth and the other was about humanoid hawks in space.

The story was basically about a bionic police force known as the SilverHawks who protected the galaxy from an evil alien mob boss, known as MonStar. The SilverHawks had all the best weapons and vehicles. MonStar and his crew, not so much. one of the best looking ships in all of 80s cartoons had to be the Mirage. It was the ship that broke off into sections that the SilverHawks flew around in. I loved it in the show and wished I owned it as a kid. Most likely it would have been lost or broken long ago, but I still wish I had owned it at one time.

Speaking of SilverHawks toys, does anyone remember them being very cheaply made? I remember buying like four Quicksilvers and at least two Copper Kids (worst one of the group) because their limbs kept breaking off. However, I remember Buzz Saw (villain) being a pretty beefy toy that lasted as long as I can remember. In fact, all of the villains seemed to be better quality than the actual SilverHawks. You would think or at least hope that it would be the other way around.

All in all SilverHawks was a great part of my childhood and I hope it was a great part of yours too Nerd Nation. As always I’d love to hear some memories you have on the series or on the toy line. I know that many fans have been asking for it to brought back and updated for modern day. Does that sound like something you would be excited for? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below, on the Facebook page or on the Twitter page.
