Happy Halloween Nerd Nation! I hope everyone has a fun and safe time out there tonight. I know this is usually considered a kids holiday but I think that is starting to change these days. i’ve always loved Halloween especially into my adult years. Just make sure you don’t let the kiddos have all the fun on Halloween.

COD: Advanced Warfare Commercial (Video)

Each year I like to compare the Call of Duty commercials to the one from the previous year. You can see last years comparison by Clicking Here. This year’s Call of Duty Advanced Warfare looks better than last year’s Ghost in just about every way. That includes the new commercial that was released today. This time it stars Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and goes with an awesome first person, go pro style approach. As we all know the faced paced, run and gun game play is what’s really important when it comes to Call of Duty but between the two commercials, I’d definitely have to say I like this year’s way better than last.

Official YouTube description:
Suit up and unleash the raw power of the advanced soldier in the live action trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Directed by Peter Berg and starring Taylor Kitsch and Emily Ratajkowski, fight your way through a series of enemy forces and discover new movements, capabilities and weaponry along the way in this heart-racing journey through 2059 Lagos.

Like I said before, this is just something fun that I like to do each year because I appreciate the work that goes into these commercials. Besides, the COD franchise has always done a great job of building hype for what seems to be the release of that same game every year haha. Honestly though this year seems a bit more innovative and fresh than the past few years. Anyways, take a look at this year’s and last year’s videos and let me know which one you like better. Gizmo Pumpkin

Gizmo Pumpkin for the Win!!! Damn, every time I see something like this I just wish I had the talent and patients to put in this kind of work. The kids would go crazy for it and no doubt we would have the best pumpkin on the block. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to stick to blogging and graphic design. Anyways, if you want this pumpkin just make sure you don’t feed it after midnight…You knew that was coming 😉

Huge Marvel Movie News

Holy Carp, I can’t believe this is actually real! The pictures below look like the real deal but I had to be sure before I posted them. There are some Marvel fans out there that have some really amazing skill at faking movie posters. Last thing I want to do is mislead you fine people of the Nerd Nation. Marvel announced today the titles and release dates of 8 huge movies on their way to the big screen. There is definitely some I am excited to see and others not so much. Either way, I’m sure they will all be huge money makers for Marvel and only time will tell if I’m going to see them all.

One things I have a question about is the Civil war movie. Spider-Man played a pretty big part in that whole story line; So is Marvel really just going to do it without him or is there something legitimate about the rumors of Marvel getting the rights back? Also, I am noticing a distinct lack of Ant Man in this list. I feel bad for DC because if they don’t want their movies to completely bomb, then they are going to try and find release dates that don’t come anywhere near these movies. This list was released today along with images of their movie titles. I have listed the movies below in chronological order. Let me know what you think guys by leaving a comment below, on the Facebook page, or on Twitter.

X-Wing/Tie Fighter Re-Release

This is awesome news! Finally after 20 plus years we are getting a re-release of two of the best PC games to come out of Lucas Arts and possibly of all time. The epic Star Wars inspired flight sims are making a triumphant come back! I can’t even tell you how many hours I spent as a kid on both the X-Wing and Tie Fighter PC games. They were both way ahead of their time and gave you the feeling of actually being part of a large scale, intergalactic, war fought between the Empire and the Rebellion.

From Kotaku:
Special digital versions of both X-Wing and Tie Fighter will soon be released on Good Old Games. They’ll be $10 each.

Ok, so I don’t know how triumphant this return is, but I’m pretty excited about. Apparently for our ten dollar purchase we will get special editions of the games with a little higher resolution and versions that are made to work on modern Day PCs. I guess it’s time to dust off the old flight joystick and kiss my family goodbye… So far no official release date has been announced yet, but you can rest assured I will update you when one is. So what are your thoughts Nerd Nation? Did you play either one of these games back in the day and do you plan on picking yourself up a new copy for $10? Rick Fulfills His Promise (Video)

So I don’t usually recap show episodes for you guys but last night’s episode of The Walking Dead had one of the most surprising and bad ass scenes of the entire series. I’ve always enjoyed the show but never as much as I did in the first season. Nothing has compared to the cinematic style of Frank Darabont though the Walking Dead has come into its own style since his departure. For the first time since season one, this show has me saying “that sh*t was crazy”…in a good way. There are spoilers in this recap so if you don’t want to know what happened on last night’s episode STOP HERE.

Last week we saw that Gareth and his crew took Bob from the graveyard and chopped off his leg. They were literally eating it in front of him which cemented their role as sick, deranged, homicidal villains. We pretty much already knew this, but it made what happened to them this week all the more satisfying. The big scene (check out the video below) was when Gareth thought he had tricked Rick and the gang into leaving behind a few of their people to go extract their revenge for Bob. The last of the Terminians waited until they thought it was safe for them to move in on the Church.

A handful of the group was left behind including Carl, baby Judith, and Father Gabriel. Gareth slowly stalked through the church monologging the entire time until (of course) the baby made a noise and gave away their position. The Terminions or Termites as Christ Hardwick likes to call them prepared to forcefully enter into Father Gabriel’s office where they were hiding. Before they could do so however, Rick and the rest of the group made a surprise return. This was a huge HELL YES moment as two of Gareth’s guys were taken out quickly by getting blasted in the head. Those two could be considered the lucky ones out of the group because what came next for the four others that were left was freaking brutal. In the first episode of season 5 Rick made a promise that he was going to kill Gareth with a red handled machete that he had hidden in a bag in the woods. Last night Rick fulfilled that promise to Gareth.

I like how they are not spending too much time on one things this season. The search for Sophia in season 2 was painfully slow and the whole battle with the Governor and Woodbury became very boring and uneventful. This season has a completely different pacing and I’m excited to see what else happens this season. As always I want to know what you think Nerd Nation. Are you enjoying season 5 so far and do you like this new change of pace? Let me know your thoughts by leaving me a comment below, on the Facebook page or on Twitter.

Halloween Is Coming

Haha this is awesome. Lord Jack of the clan Skellington! Halloween is most definitely coming and I love it. The Nightmare before Christmas is a family tradition in our house. The kids love it and so do we. Halloween can’t officially begin until we watch it at least a couple times 🙂

Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer (Video)

Holy crap this is crazy! Some how Movieweb got a hold of a leaked copy of The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer that wasn’t suppose to air until next week. Apparently this trailer was actually only supposed to be a “teaser” and was set to premiere Tuesday, October 28 during Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Don’t get it twisted though, this is actually a full length trailer with a run time of two minutes and eleven seconds. I’m not sure how long this trailer will be up for and no it’s not in HD, but it is pretty intense…

You can definitely tell that this Avengers film is going to to have a much darker tone to it. The choice of music for this trailer is a bit weird since I almost immediately recognized it as the song Pinocchio sings during his puppet performance. I get the connection, but it’s still just seems kinda cheesy. It just struck me as weird like the Lorde remake of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” used in the Dracula Untold trailer. Other than that, this trailer got me pumped for Avengers: Age of Ultron. James Spader sounds completely menacing and in a calm yet psychotic way as the voice of Ultron. Plus we get our first look at the amazing looking Hulk Buster Iron Man armor.

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1st, 2015. So, take a look at this trailer and as always let me know what you think Nerd Nation. Is there anything about this that surprised you and does this make you more or less excited for the actual movie? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below, on the Facebook page, or on Twitter…Enjoy!

Update: Haha, that didn’t take long. Here’s the official HD trailer released about an hour later. Enjoy!
