Arrow Finds It’s Ra’s al Ghul

So earlier this week I heard some awesome news straight from Liam Neeson himself. In an interview with MTV he was asked if he had been approached by the CW execs about reprising his role from The Dark Knight trilogy as uber villain Ra’s al Ghul. His response went something like this;

“No, I haven’t, I haven’t at all but I would, in a heartbeat, if it came my way, yeah, very much so.”

I don’t know about you guys, but I was pretty excited to hear that. I personally love the show Arrow though admitidly I was a little skeptical about it at first. I was so excited to hear him say that and honestly I think he was one of the best things about the entire Christopher Nolan series. Less than a week after he spoke those exciting words my hopes were quickly crushed with maliciousness. Today it was announced by Arrow himself Stephen Amell and later confirmed by the CW that yet another one of my Nerd dreams would not be coming true.

Instead, Matt Nable will be taking up the role of the iconic DC villain. Who’s Matt Nable you ask? I have no effing idea except that he played in Riddick. They could have had an Oscar nominated actor and one of the biggest Bad Asses in film today playing Ra’s al Ghul, but instead they went with Matt Nable…DAMN IT!!! Now I know that it was kind of a stretch to think that we fans would actually get something we wanted from a large studio but it was worth hoping for. I know there are probably several reason why Liam Neeson was not chosen to be Ra’z al Ghul.

Most likely the biggest reason for him not being chosen was that the CW probably didn’t think or just flat out couldn’t afford to pay him for a multiple episode contract. I do understand that but the fact that they did not even approach him tells me that they had no interest in giving us fans what we really want. Another name that was being tossed around the inter-webs was Oded Fehr who you might know from the Mummy and Resident Evil movies. I think he would have been another great choice as well. Either way, I am pretty disappointed to say the least because either Liam Neeson or Oden Fehr could have been great additions to the show. Actors of that caliber could have brought some much needed experience to the cast and really taken this show to the proverbial next level.

It’s possible that I’m taking this a bit too personal…As always I want to know what you think Nerd Nation. Do you think that Matt Nable is a good choice to play Ra’s al Ghul on the CW’s Arrow, or would you have liked to see someone else take on such an iconic role?
