Titanfall: Free The Frontier (Video)

I’m honestly surprised to see that someone has already decided to make a live action adaptation of Microsoft’s exclusive first person shooter. Usually it takes several years and a few game sequels for someone to realize how popular and profitable something like this can be. However, this does not seem to be the case with TitanFall. The series will be called “Free The Frontier” and is a collaboration between Respawn Entertainment (the creators of Titanfall) and Playfight which is a VFX studio. The following preview was revealed at Gamescom 2014 earlier this week.

Both the trailer and the actual game are a testament to how far the technology in visual effects has come. This “live action” series has a pretty heavy element of CGI, which is expected considering the sci-fi elements that exist in the Titanfall universe. There is still no word (at least none that I’ve heard) on when this series will actually air. Here is the official description from Playfight’s website;

“We’re excited to unveil the next installment in the Titanfall live action series. Developed by the extraordinarily talented Playfight team, the Titanfall universe again comes to life in this visceral prequel” noted Dusty Welch – Chief Operating Officer of Respawn.
Playfight is proud to continue building a live action epic around the Titanfall universe with ongoing plans to expand the series in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment. Director William Chang follows up his directorial debut of Titanfall: Free The Frontier with the second installment, blending high octane action with lightning paced visual effects. The Playfight team is dedicated to bringing faithful and exhilarating adaptation to Titanfall; marrying high quality visual effects, game IP and live-action content into one jaw dropping saga

So I don’t know about you guys, but I love the fact that a studio with a passion for things like this, was able to work with the actual creators to bring the fans something else to expand the Titanfall universe. Check out the three minute preview below, and as always let me know your thoughts Nerd Nation. Are you excited for a live action Titanfall series and what do you think this series will lead to?
