Jupiter Ascending Official Trailer (Video)

If you love CGI then you are definitely going to love this movie. There are CGI Spaceships, CGI weapons, CGI creatures, hell even entire CGI cities in this. I haven’t seen this much CGI packed into a trailer since Avatar. Not to mention we will be treated to the acting chops of the outrageously talented Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. Speaking of Channing Tatum it looks like he is sporting a pretty sweet flesh colored beard in this movie so I think that is worth the price of admission alone…Don’t you?

In all seriousness though I really wanted to get into this trailer because it does at the very least look unique. However, I can’t tell if this movie is trying to be an action/drama, an action adventure, suspenseful sci-fi mystery, or even a romance. Seems to have a bit of 5th Element mixed with some Total Recall and possibly a little Bourne Identity in it. I’m still a little confused by the whole story premise so I guess I will leave that up to you guys to figure out. I haven’t heard much, if anything about this movie so when I saw the trailer I was a little surprised by it. Again, it looks unique but I’m not a huge fan of the casting choices and I don’t understand what type of story this film is trying to tell me.

I was also surprised to find out that this was written and directed by the Wachowski Brothers or brother and now sister. In case you aren’t familiar with their work then just reference back to a little movie known as the Matrix. Anyways we are always interested in hearing your thoughts. Leave us a comment below or on our Facebook page telling us what you thought of this trailer. Do you think this will be a good movie or do you think you will pass on this one?

Life Sized Anime Mech

Continuing with our Giant Robo Tuesday, this story will fit right in. For some of you anime fans out there the mech in the pictures might look a little familiar to you. Earlier this year a life sized Ingram Mech from the anime Patlabor: Mobile Police showed up in Japan. It’s actually a prop from a live action movie based on the popular anime series from the early 1990s. It was announced at the 2013 Tokyo Anime Fair that Tohokushinsha Film Corporation will be making the live action film set to release in 2014.

I have seen a bit of the anime and have seen the feature length animated movie. The story is interesting but what drew me to this anime the most is the giant mechs that the mobile police get to pilot. looking at the pictures it is easy to see the attention to detail the creators put into making this awesome piece of artwork. I can only assume that this is based off of Alphonse who just so happens to be the name of the Ingram Mech piloted by the protagonist of the series. There are some subtle changes to the mech design but that can be expected when in comes to a live action adaptation. honestly though this thing looks like it jumped right off the screen of the anime series.

As exciting as this is I don’t have many details on the actual movie. You can probably be sure that it will be limited to an exclusive Japan release since the anime series never really became popular with audiences here in the states. I have seen somewhat a trailer on YouTube, but I was very unimpressed with it. I’m hoping that is just some very early CGI footage because it looked like a trailer for a Playstation 1 game. Anyways take a look at the pictures below and let us know what you think.

Official Godzilla Trailer (Video)

Though technically not a giant robot Godzilla is giant and fits right in with Giant Robo Tuesday. That being said after watching this trailer, I’m not sure how to feel. It seems pretty much just like the Godzilla movie from the 90s. Even how the monster actually looks. They made him look almost exactly the same. Unfortunately this doesn’t look like anything we haven’t already seen with the first Godzilla movie or Cloverfield.

Seems like the same old remake of a remake. Godzilla shows up, destroys city, soldiers try and fight him with no luck. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was pregnant in this one too. Also, from what I could see the Lizard itself looks more like the 90’s version than the original especially with the longer snout. Although they don’t give us the most clear look at him in this trailer so I could be wrong about that. I think I would have rather seen something more innovative done with Godzilla rather than a remake of a remake. He’s fought several other creatures and with the success of Pacific Rim it might have been cool to see him protect a city rather than be the sole destroyer of it.

However, I have heard he might fight another creature in this one so who the hell knows…As always we want to know what you think about this trailer. Do you think this is a movie you ill see in theaters and if so what is it that draws you in? Leave us your thoughts below or write us a comment on our Facebook page.

Devastator

Today is Giant Robo (not robot) Tuesday for no reason at all other than we love giant robots here at Nerdgasm Needs! So check out this awesome image of a life size Devastator. Obviously it’s just CG but it would be really cool to see this in real life stomping around a construction site.
