Mob City (Video)

There is a series that is coming to the TNT network that I am actually really looking forward to. It’s a little different than the usual sci-fi and comic book type of shows that we talk about here at Nerdgasm Needs, but I think it will still be just as entertaining. it’s called “Mob City” and is directed by Frank Darabont. Who’s Frank Darabont you ask? Well he is the original director of The Walking Dead on AMC and turned in it’s first and only real compelling season (in my opinion).

Seriously, go back and watch season one and pay attention to the subtle things, like camera angles, sound effects and even dialog. Anyways, he also directed The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. Both amazing films and had a ton of academy award nominations including “Best Picture”; But enough about Frank and his many accomplishments.

Mob City is about the decades-long battle between Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker and mob figure Mickey Cohen. It is based on real-life accounts of the L.A.P.D. and gangsters in the 1940s. I don’t know about you guys but I love gangster movies like Casino, Good Fellas, and The Godfather. the cast looks amazing and has some actors that I’m super excited to see share the screen together. i think I’m most excited to see Jon Bernthal (from The Walking Dead), (from Saving Private Ryan) and (from Heroes). These guys have played some of my favorite characters on both TV and in Movies.

Mob City looks intense and gritty with enough charisma and romance to make this possibly one of the best new shows to hit television. I can’t wait to watch the season premiere tonight. Mob City will air tonight (Wednesday) on the TNT network at 9/8c. Guys, give it a watch and as always let us know your thoughts on it. Does this look like a show you want to watch? Actress Cast to Play Wonder Woman

Well this Batman vs Superman movie just keeps getting bigger and is starting to sound less and less like a sequel. It appears as though they have found an actress to play the powerful amazonian. Actress Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman, the follow up to Man of Steel. I think most of us probably know her as Gisele from the Fast and Furious movies. She can definitely play a tough woman role but so far we have only seen her in supporting roles. it will be interesting to see if she can pull off a powerful (literally) female lead.

I can’t say I’m super excited about this movie either way. I didn’t really love Man of Steel and I’m not a huge DC fan to begin with. However, this is an interesting turn of events because they are really swinging for the fences with this next movie. Apparently Ms. Gadot beat out both Olga Kurylenko and Elodie Yung for the role of Wonder Woman. However, that might not be a good thing.

I think if DC would have taken a similar approach to their heroes and introduced them to the audience the way Marvel did, and then teamed them up for a Justice League movie it would have been awesome. Instead it seems as though they are trying to make up for lost time and cram everything into one movie. Unfortunately there just isn’t enough time to develop such pivotal characters like Batman and Wonder Woman, as well as their relationship with Superman without giving them their own movies.

So the question remains Nerd Nation…What do you think about this choice and what are your thoughts overall on the up coming Superman sequel? Do you think Gal Godat will make a good Wonder Woman or do you think adding Batman and Wonder woman to this next movie is a bad idea? Leave us a comment below or on our Facebook page.

Cosplay of The Day

Cosplay of The Day! Check out this awesome Vega/Balrog cosplayer. He seems like a simple character to pull off, but I have seen some bad ones out there. This guy definitely put in the work to make himself look just as awesome as the game version.

New Amazing Spider-Man 2 Poster

Sony Pictures has released this hi-res version of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 poster that we have only been able to see grainy images of. In this banner we can finally get a clear look at some of Spidey’s other enemies like The Rhino and Green Goiblin. The image is actually very cool, but once again it brings me to my biggest fear for this movie. I see 3 enemies in this image and I’m worried that we are doomed to see another version of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3.

Earlier this week we got our first glimpse at some completed footage for the film and in case you missed it, just Click Here. I can’t say that I’m particularly in love with the designs for any of these famous foes, but only time will tell how they are pulled off on the big screen. The Green Goblin and Electro are two very pivotal characters in the Spider-Man universe and trying to fit both their origin stories, let alone progressing them into formidable enemies for the Web Head is just a recipe for disaster.

Anyways, we are interested in your thoughts Nerd Nation. What do you think about this new poster and do you think having three enemies for Spider-Man to fight in his next movie is a good idea? Leave us a comment below or on our Facebook page.
