Spider-Man SpinOffs?

According to The Wrap there was a presentation done today by Sony Pictures for their investors that revealed some very interesting news for Spider-Man and Marvel fans alike. Co Chairman of Sony Pictures Amy Pascal mentioned the possibility of them moving forward on some Spider-Man character spinoffs that might be coming to theaters in the not so far off future.

“We are going to access Marvel’s full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains,” said Amy Pascal at Thursday’s presentation.

This is very interesting because we could possibly be in for some of the best Marvel character movies yet or for a great big bowl full of Shit! Depending on the writing and directors for these “spinoffs” these could be worthless cash grabs by Sony that don’t do the characters or story lines justice. Marvel has done a very good job with 20th Century Fox to build the Avengers universe but Sony is not involved in any way with those movies. If they take the recipe that Marvel has used already and get themselves some talented actors and directors we could possibly get to see another awesome part of Marvel’s vast universe on the big screen.

So the question remains will all these characters be tied in along with the web head in some crazy intertwining web of movies (excuse the pun)? Or are these going to be stand alone films that merely hint at their relationship with the web head? For those of you that aren’t familiar with my opinion on Marvel’s treatment of Spider-Man, I will let you know that I am really really not happy with how they’ve made him the whipping boy for just about every other marvel character out there. This could be a chance to redeem themselves and give one of the most iconic characters in pop culture the film saga he deserves.

So what are your thoughts on this Nerd Nation? Are you excited to hear that Sony is planning on expanding on the Spider-Man universe and and what Heroes or Villains would you like to see in these up coming movies? Leave us a comment below or on our Facebook Page.
