A Walking Dead Spin Off???

Looks like AMC is getting a bit spin off happy. This morning AMC announced that they and creator Robert Kirkman are in the planning stages of a Walking Dead spin off show. Apparently this will be a “companion series” with the original show. It was said by AMC president Charlie Collier that there was no end in sight for the original Walking Dead TV series. This might work for the comic book, but I’m not so sure how good of a formula it is for a TV show. Hopefully this new announcement means that with a second series in production that we might actually get an end to the original.

Regarding the new series Robert Kirman said;
“I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe” adding that “the opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”

AMC president Charlie Collier promised that the show would feature;
“an entirely new story and cast of characters,” while offering “another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

I think this can only be a good thing since there has been a bit of bad blood between fans of the show and fans of the comic. Now everyone gets something new written by the original creator of the series. This announcement follows the earlier announcement that AMC is working on a prequel to the Breaking Bad TV series titled “Saul”. The new Walking dead spin off series is set to premiere sometime in 2015. As always let us know your thoughts below or leave us a comment on our Facebook Page.
