Avengers 2 Title and Release Date

Some more big news coming from Marvel over the weekend is the announcement of the second Avengers movie. Marvel saved the best for last at their San Diego Comic Con panel as Joss Whedon took the stage to close things out. He had a major announcement involving the future of the Avengers and their next movie. After much speculation about the phase 2 movie the official title and somewhat broad release date was finally given.

The next Avengers movie will be titled Avengers Age of Ultron and will be looking for a release sometime in summer 2015. I have mixed feelings about this since it was teased in the last Avengers movie that Thanos would be our main bad guy for the next movie. He could still play a role in it and possibly be set up for a big time showdown in the third film, but for now it looks like Thanos will be out of the picture. This is kind of upsetting news but the potential to really build the anticipation for a fight with Thanos could be very exciting. Until then we get to look forward to a battle with the super robot Ultron.

For those of you that don’t know who Ultron is here is a quick summary for you;

Ultron is the mechanical master piece of Hank Pym (Ant Man) who goes rogue and is hell bent on destroying humanity and the Avengers. He is one of the oldest Avenger enemies and is almost indestructible as he is covered in adamantium, which is the same stuff that Wolverine’s claws and skeleton are covered in.

I’m a little confused on how this is suppose to work since the Ant Man story will be in a phase 3 film that comes after Avengers 2. It’s hard to say how they will work this all in, but it’s still early. I think Ultron could be one of the toughest and most exciting villains the Avengers might have to face. This time they won’t have to stop a mad man from enslaving humanity but instead defeat a heartless and indestructible machine hell bent on destroying it…Pretty exciting stuff.

As always let us know your thoughts on this. Are you excited for the Age of Ultron and do you think he will make a good enemy? Also, where do you think Thanos fits in with all of this? Leave us your comments below or on our Facebook Page.
