Wolfenstein Movie!

It has been confirmed that the computer game “Castle Wolfenstein” that was made popular in the 80’s and 90’s will be made into a movie. IGN has reported that producer Samuel Hadida (known for the Silent Hill movies) and Oscar winning director Roger Avary (Who scripted the original “Silent Hill” movie with Hadida, and co-wrote “Pulp Fiction”) will be teaming up to bring Castle Wolfenstein to the big screen. It is reported that this will be a an action adventure movie set during World War 2 and is described as having similar elements of the movies “Inglorious Bastards” and “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

So I can’t say that I’m super excited about this type of movie. First person shooter games made into movies haven’t done too well in the past. All I need to say about that is; Remember “Doom.” To me this doesn’t sound very interesting. What made Castle Wolfenstein so popular back in the day was how cutting edge it was being a first person shooter in a world of side scrollers. Although it was revolutionary for its time, it hasn’t become a pop culture icon like Mario or Pac man. I’m not so sure that it will stand the test of time and grab audiences of today…Especially the attention of the younger gamers of today.
