Good Bye Twinkies!

So it’s official. Hostess has closed it’s doors after 82 years in business. It was warned that this might happen last week after a worker strike and failed negotiations with union representatives. With the company closed that means 18,500 people are now out of work. Not to mention a staple of American history will no longer be produced.

I wonder how much a box of Twinkies will be worth 10 years from now. Good luck finding them in the stores but if you do enjoy them because they might be the last ones on ever made.

R.I.P. Twinkies

Astonishing X-Men Blu-ray and Motion Comics

So I guess this is going to be the new trend in Marvel Comic Animated movies. I personally am not a huge fan of the Motion Comic genre but It seems like Marvel was trying to cut some costs and still try to compete with DC on the animation motion picture line.

As we all know Marvel Comics is owned by Disney, and Disney has some seriously deep pockets. So I wonder why they would cheap out on these animated stories especially when they get a Director like Joss Whedon. I haven’t seen the DVD yet but just the whole look and feel of the animation seems like some sort of mutant spawn (forgive the pun)between a stylized comic book and an animated movie. The mouth movements look like something out of a bad puppet show and from the looks of the trailer they can’t make up their mind if they wanted to make it fast paced or in slow motion.

In any case the Blu-ray is out now and you can judge for yourself if you’d like.

The Mortal Instruments Trailer

So from what I gather Hermine Granger and Green Arrow team up to fight demons? I like it. I honestly have not heard anything about this film but it does look interesting. What do you think? In or Out?

Throw Back Thursday!

In light of the new movie Wreck It Ralph I thought I would post something that I thought of as soon as I saw the commercial for the new Disney movie.

Now this brings back some great memories of weekends as a kid. Back when things were worth waking up at 7 a.m. on a Saturday. Captain N The Game Master was awesome for some completely obvious reasons. The NES (Nintendo entertainment system) was the hottest thing in the world at the time and everyone had the gun that came with the game Duck Hunt.

I’m not talking about that shitty orange and grey one that came out later, but the original that came in two different shades of grey….Genius

Kevin was the main character who was sucked into the video game world because of his amazing Nintendo skills. He was commissioned to save Video Land from the evil Mother Brain. Some of you may remember her from the Metroid games. The N Team consisted of Princess Lena, Simon Belmont (from Castlevania) Pit (from Kid Icarus) and an oddly colored Mega Man. Every now and then Link and Princess Zelda would show up as well.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed our trip down memory lane as much as I did.
